Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of MyFIRE, operated at planmyfire.org. By using MyFIRE, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

1. Service description

MyFIRE is a free retirement planning calculator that models FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) scenarios. It provides:

• A retirement corpus projector with bridge fund, Monte Carlo simulation, and withdrawal modelling
• AI-powered analysis and personalised suggestions based on inputs you provide
• Cloud sync for saving and comparing multiple retirement scenarios
• Educational blog content on FIRE planning topics

The service is provided "as is" for informational and illustrative purposes. It is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, financial planner, or tax adviser.

2. User accounts

To save scenarios and use AI Insights, you must create an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for:

• Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate information — the quality of the planner's output depends entirely on the accuracy of your inputs
• Notifying us immediately at hello@planmyfire.org if you suspect unauthorised access to your account

You may delete your account at any time by contacting hello@planmyfire.org. We will remove your data within 30 days.

3. Payment terms

The core MyFIRE planner is free. AI Insights questions beyond the free weekly allowance require purchasing question credits ("Credits").

• Pricing — current credit packs: Starter (10 credits / $1.97), Popular (50 credits / $4.94), Power (200 credits / $9.98). Prices may change; current prices are always shown on the planner.
• No subscription — Credits are a one-time purchase. There is no recurring charge or subscription.
• Credits never expire — purchased Credits remain on your account until used, with no expiry date.
• Non-refundable — all Credit purchases are final and non-refundable once the transaction is complete, except where required by applicable law.
• Payment processing — payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details. By purchasing Credits you also agree to Stripe's terms.
• Free questions — the free tier provides 3 questions per week (168-hour cooldown). This allowance may change with notice.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Scrape, crawl, or systematically extract data from MyFIRE using automated tools
• Attempt to circumvent rate limits, abuse the free question tier, or share accounts to pool free questions
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or AI model prompts
• Use the AI features to generate content unrelated to retirement and financial planning
• Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms without prior notice.

5. Intellectual property

All content, design, code, and branding on MyFIRE — including the planner interface, blog articles, calculators, and MyFIRE name and logo — are owned by or licensed to us. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any part of the service without our written permission.

Your retirement data and scenario inputs remain yours. We do not claim ownership over the financial information you enter.

6. Disclaimer — not financial advice

MyFIRE is a planning tool for illustrative purposes only. All projections, analyses, and AI-generated suggestions are based on mathematical models and historical averages. They are not guarantees of future performance.

• MyFIRE is not a registered investment adviser under the Investment Advisers Act of 1940 or any equivalent law.
• Nothing on MyFIRE constitutes financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, or a solicitation to buy or sell any financial product.
• AI-generated suggestions are automated outputs and do not represent the opinion of a licensed financial professional.
• Retirement outcomes depend on many factors outside our control — market returns, inflation, healthcare costs, tax law changes, and personal circumstances.

Before making any retirement, investment, or tax decision, consult a qualified, fee-only financial adviser or certified financial planner (CFP).

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• MyFIRE and its operators are not liable for any financial losses, retirement shortfalls, or other damages arising from your reliance on the service's outputs.
• The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or accuracy.
• Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to the amount you paid for Credits in the 12 months prior to the claim.
• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind.

8. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of MyFIRE shall be resolved in the courts of Illinois.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. We will update the effective date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of MyFIRE after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
